Bulawayo – A mother driving with her three children had a narrow escape on Friday morning, 22 August 2025, after her car was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Mahatshula North, Bulawayo.
According to witnesses, the woman overtook several vehicles that had stopped to give way to the oncoming train. Her old-model Mercedes-Benz was clipped on the rear left side, leaving her visibly shaken but unharmed. Thankfully, her three children were also safe.
The dramatic incident was captured on video and has since circulated widely on social media, prompting outrage and debate among users about road safety and recklessness at railway crossings.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of ignoring safety rules at train crossings.
