NEW Beginnings Primary School on Friday, 12 June held its annual Lend a Hand Day Sponsored Walk, raising support for vulnerable families and children through donations of blankets, groceries and other essential goods.
The walk started at Masvingo Turn-off and ended at Gain Mall in Beitbridge, where 14 families, including Takalani Orphanage, received blankets, rice, sugar, tea, toiletries and other food items.

Speaking after the event, New Beginnings Primary School Chief Executive Officer Nokhuthula Mutsimba said the initiative was designed to teach learners the importance of giving back to the community.
She said the programme forms part of the school curriculum and helps students understand that they can make a positive impact on the lives of others through small acts of kindness.
School Development Committee chairperson Chigwinya said the event teaches children the value of charity and encourages them to grow up knowing the importance of helping those in need.

Head boy Ekena Dube said the school has a tradition of assisting the poor and underprivileged every year on June 12.
He said the initiative is important because it promotes kindness and reminds learners that helping others brings blessings to society.
Takalani Orphanage matron Florence Ndou thanked the school for the donations and said the blankets and groceries would bring joy and comfort to children at the orphanage.
One of the beneficiaries, Christine Sibanda, expressed gratitude for the support and praised the school for reaching out to vulnerable members of the community.
The annual charity walk showed the school’s commitment to teaching compassion while bringing practical assistance to families facing hardship in Beitbridge.
