Police in Nyanga have arrested 24 year old Sylvester Tembo in connection with stock theft incident that occured at Jani Village, Katerere,Ruwangwe on the night of May 7th where 11 cattle were stolen.
Investigations done by Police revealed that Tembo, along with accomplices Wellington Mupezeni and Nigel, stole the cattle and subsequently sold them to Edson Gotekote at Sabamba Village for USD 1,740.
The police operation led to the recovery of the stolen cattle and USD 500 in cash, which was reportedly Tembo’s share from the sale.
“The arrest led to the recovery of the stolen cattle and USD 500.00 cash, which had been given to Sylvester Tembo as his share from the selling of the stolen stock, ” noted the Police statement
The other suspects, Mupezeni and Nigel, are currently at large, and authorities have urged the public to assist with information that could lead to their arrest.
“Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact their nearest Police Station. “
The police continue to investigate the case and are committed to bringing all those involved to justice, sending a strong message to any would cattle rustlers that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.
