Masvingo, Zimbabwe – In a city often isolated from the bustling film and entertainment hubs associated with the two biggest cities in Zimbabwe; Harare and Bulawayo, Carl Summer, a 27-year-old multifaceted artist, has risen to the top of his craft, defying the odds and inspiring the Masvingo community.

The actor, who also does Emceeing, Summer’s unwavering determination and self-belief has been the driving forces behind his remarkable journey. From his debut on the small screen in the gripping teen drama ‘Eleven PM’ to his Silver screen appearances in critically acclaimed films like ‘Ruth ‘, ‘Advent Whisper’, and the Pan African Award-winning ‘Gonarezhou,’ he has consistently proven his mettle in the film industry debunking the small city syndrome

“Masvingo is not known for its support of the film industry,” Summer admits.

“It has been a constant battle to gain recognition and access the opportunities that are more readily available in the larger cities. But I never let that deter me. I believed in myself, and every day I could feel that one day I would grow bigger, despite the limitations,” he said.

The talented actor reckons his road was not all rosy and it took a lot of hard work, determination to be where he is now.

“It wasn’t easy,” he reflects. “There were times when I felt like giving up, but I knew that I had something special to offer. I kept pushing forward, honing my craft, and never losing sight of my dreams.”

Summer’s versatility and talent have not gone unnoticed. His captivating performances in the highly acclaimed series ‘Wenera’ and the lead role in ‘Solo & Mutsai’ have earned him accolades from both viewers and industry experts turning him into a sought after small screen talent.

As Summer continues to soar to new heights, his message to the Masvingo community which he consistently credits for inspiration, is one of hope and inspiration.
