Harare – Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have intercepted two large shipments of dagga in separate operations, leading to the arrest of four suspects.
On 2 September, Chipinge police, acting on a tip-off, stopped a bus at the 256km peg along the Ngundu-Tanganda Road. Bus driver Juda Gondo (27), conductor Abraham Marakia (62), and passenger Nyasha Jojo (30) were arrested after officers discovered 66.5 kilograms of compressed dagga concealed in 23 plastic packs.
A day later, Beitbridge police arrested Stabile Dambudzo Magaya (34) at the 8km peg along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road. The suspect, traveling as a bus passenger, was found with 7.4 kilograms of dagga hidden in his suitcase.
In a statement on their official X account, the ZRP stressed their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and warned that those involved would face serious consequences.
“These arrests demonstrate the dedication and vigilance of our officers in keeping communities safe from illegal drugs,” the statement read.
All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
