The stage is set for the 45th Independence Celebrations in Gokwe Nembudziya, with the government confirming that essential utilities have been finalized to ensure a successful event.

During the Zimbabwe Cabinet’s 10th post-cabinet press briefing in Harare yesterday, Jenfan Muswere, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, reported on the extensive preparations underway.

“This year’s theme, ‘Zim@45: Devolve and Develop Together Towards Vision 2030,’ represents our ongoing commitment to progress and development,” Muswere said.

He outlined the infrastructural improvements that have transformed the district, including the completion of a football stadium, changing rooms, terraces, floodlights, and solar-powered boreholes at the celebration venue.

In addition, educational enhancement projects have been finalized at various institutions, including Nembudziya Government High School and Nyamuroro High School. These projects encompass new classroom blocks, ablution facilities, teachers’ accommodations, science laboratories, and upgraded water and sanitation services. The overall condition of these schools has also been improved through renovations and fresh paint.

Transportation access to the celebration site has been bolstered with major rehabilitation efforts completed across Gokwe North, South, and neighboring regions. Key roads, such as those leading to Nembudziya Growth Point and sections of the Kadoma-Sanyati-Nembudziya Road, have been resurfaced and re-gravelled to enhance accessibility.

Other notable developments include renovations at Nembudziya Hospital’s mortuary, the installation of 3G and 4G base stations, community training in digital skills, refurbishment of computer labs, and the establishment of a telemedicine clinic.

Furthermore, 132 graves at heroes’ shrines in the Midlands Province are receiving new concrete slabs, and a field museum along with a memorial plinth at the former Sikombela Restriction Camp have been constructed. Important historical sites tied to the country’s Liberation Struggle, such as Connemara Prison and Mutapa Hall, have also been renovated.

All logistical arrangements, including sporting and cultural performances, are on track for the 45th Independence Day Anniversary Celebrations, along with the 2025 Children’s Party. The event promises to be a remarkable occasion honoring Zimbabwe’s journey toward independence and future development.
