The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has alerted the public about fake social media accounts purporting to be from Governor John Mushayavanhu.
“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) would like to alert the public of a proliferation of fake social media profiles fraudulently posing as the Governor Dr. John Mushayavanhu.
“Be advised that the Governor does not have any social media accounts and when he does, these will be verified,” said the RBZ in a statement dated September 17 this year.
“While RBZ has reported these fake accounts on various social media platforms, the public is urged to be vigilant as these accounts are designed to appear authentic, often using stolen images to create a false sense of legitimacy.

It advised the public to be cautious of profiles claiming to be the Governor, as they are illegitimate.
“All official communication from the Governor’s Office is distributed through our official Reserve Bank Of Zimbabwe website and verified social media platforms below:,” said the statement.
RBZ said www.rbz.co.zw, Facebook- Reserve BankZim , X-@ReserveBankZIM and WhatsApp Channel – Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe were its social media accounts.
