Norton Member of Parliament Richard Tsvangirai was involved in a car accident on Monday evening while returning from the New Parliament Building in Mount Hampden.

The accident occurred in the Goodhope area, leaving the MP’s vehicle overturned along the roadside with visible serious damage. Tsvangirai was driving his Silver Toyota which appears to be brand new as it has no number plates when he was involved in an accident.

The Norton legislator escaped unharmed, and can be seen standing near the scene with a few onlookers watching his Toyota lying on its side.

Specific causes of the accident is still unknown and the vehicle appears to have sustained significant damage.

Richard Tsvangirai is the son of the late trade unionist and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai who founded the biggest opposition in Zimbabwe post-independence, the Movement for Democratic Change, (MDC). Richard Tsvangirai defeated two time Norton legislator and former ZANU PF Mashonaland West Chairman Themba Mliswa who had made the seat his own as an independent prior to the entrance of Tsvangirai into mainstream politics.
