The eleventh edition of the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027’s fixtures are already set, with Zimbabwe fixtured to face Wales on October 2, 2027, at Adelaide Oval.
World Rugby released the fixtures on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The Sables’ match against Wales will mark Zimbabwe’s first Rugby World Cup appearance since 1991.
It’s a historic moment for Zimbabwe, coming 36 years after their last outing on the global sport’s biggest stage.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Sables coach Piet Benade said preparations are underway for the prestigious tournament.
“Players and technical staff all need to prepare for the challenges ahead. We are looking forward to giving Zimbabweans and all our fans a team to be proud of,” Benade said.
On coming back to the global stage and how the Sables will inspire the young rugby generation, Benade said, “We have already seen increased interest and retention of players locally in the country. We have seen and heard of players at home and abroad having hopes and dreams of playing for the Sables on the world stage. So that has been amazing and needs to drive us to the next level.”
Zimbabwe’s Sables are in Pool F alongside England, Wales, and Tonga.
Meanwhile, reigning champions South Africa will launch their Rugby World Cup campaign in Adelaide Tarntanya on October 3, taking on Italy as they pursue a historic third consecutive title
