According to a statement from ZEC, “Mr. Tongayi is a seasoned public administration and election management expert with experience in both regional and international elections.”
His extensive background is expected to guide ZEC in achieving its long-term objectives.
Prior to his appointment as acting CEO, Mr. Tongayi held the position of deputy CEO responsible for administration.
He also served as the general manager in charge of human resources and administration at the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC). Additionally, he was part of the Public Service Commission (PSC) secretariat for over a decade.
ZEC expressed confidence in Mr. Tongayi’s capabilities, believing his leadership will significantly contribute to the organization’s mission.
