BEITBRIDGE police have arrested Clatton Dube (36), Tapiwa Trymore Moyo (38), Philimon Bernard Dambwara (34), Nyasha Muparira (45), Jameson Chikozho (25) and Stanley Shumba (22) in connection with a spate of armed robbery cases which occurred in Beitbridge recently.
The suspects allegedly targetted service stations and lodges between 16th and 21st May 2026.
In a statement police said detectives acted on received information that the suspects were planning to commit another robbery during the night on 27th September 2026 and were at Mfelandawonye, Beitbridge.
“They proceeded to the area, tracked the suspects and arrested one of the suspects, Clatton Dube who, upon interviewing, implicated the other suspects leading to their subsequent arrest,” said nationalmpolice spokeman Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
“The suspects led to the recovery of two Blow P29 air pistols, each fitted with a magazine of two blank cartridges, one 9mm live round and one 9mm spent cartridge, a metal lever believed to have been used in the commission of the robbery cases and an Oppo A75 cellphone,” he said.
Police said so far the suspects are linked to six counts of armed robbery, including a robbery which occurred at Redan Service Station, Beitbridge on 16th May 2026, a robbery which occurred at Cossy Lodge, Beitbridge on 20th May 2026, a robbery which occurred at Mother’s Lodge, Shule Shule, Beitbridge on 21st May 2026, were property and cash amounting to ZIG 969 570-00 were stolen, among other cases.
Meanwhile, on 27th September 2026 Police in Chegutu arrested Tawanda Venge (41) in connection with four cases of armed robbery which occurred on the same day in Chegutu. The suspect, together with three accomplices who are still at large, robbed three complainants at Adlui Farm, Rogate Farm and a local mine while armed with machetes and a pistol. They stole two cellphones, a power bank, cash and 200kg of gold pregnant carbon.
