Johannesburg – Smash Afrika, born Afrika Mdutyulwa, has been announced as the new host of the highly anticipated fifth season of “Big Brother Mzansi.” He takes over from Lawrence Maleka, who successfully hosted the popular reality show for the last two seasons.

A statement from the production team expressed excitement about the change, declaring, “With his vibrant personality and undeniable charisma, Smash is set to breathe new life into the show and take Big Brother fans on a thrilling ride.”

At 36 years old, Smash has garnered considerable acclaim in the entertainment industry, having hosted prominent shows on 5FM and YFM. His experience extends to presenting “Massive Music” on Mzansi Magic and Channel O, and he has served as MC for major events such as Rocking the Daisies, Black Coffee’s Block Party, and the DStv Delicious Festival.

In his official statement, Smash expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I’m beyond grateful and honestly speechless because this opportunity was always meant to be,” the statement noted.

As the new host, Afrika will oversee all challenges, eliminations, and dramatic moments throughout the season. “I’m hyped for the experience ahead and can’t wait to bring that energy to the audience at home and to the housemates whenever I can,” he added, emphasizing his desire to create a positive experience for everyone involved.

While the premiere date for season five remains unconfirmed, entries for the new season opened on September 25. The show continues to captivate audiences, featuring housemates living in isolation under constant surveillance, navigating various tasks and surprises.

The previous season, themed “S’ya Mosha,” concluded with 25-year-old Mcjunior Zondi from Durban winning R2 million in prize money. With Smash Afrika at the helm, fans eagerly anticipate what season five will bring.
