A well-known Beitbridge resident and socialite Dickson Ndawana (42) aka Gudo has been remanded in custody on allegations of stealing two cars worth US$ 28 950 later sold in Harare.
Ndawana appeared before Beitbridge regional magistrate Charity Maphosa on Wednesday September 3 this year and was not asked to plead.
Allegations against Ndawana, of 1648 New Medium, Beitbridge are that on the May 19, 2025, he together with his alleged accomplice Mlungisi Ndlovu, were hiring complainant’s cars, a white Toyota Fortuner number KT86GRGP and a silver Toyota Hilux number FG76KTGP.
They allegedly said they wanted to ferry a load from Manyame Airbase, Harare but the sold the two motor vehicles and disappeared.
The State led by Prosecutor Wilbrought Muleya opposed bail on the premises that evidence linking Ndawana to the commission of the offences was available he was allegedly found in possession of stolen radio.
Muleya also said witnesses to testify testify Ndawana sold the cars were available and there were witness able to testify how the recovered motor vehicle was stolen.
He said the person from who the vehicle was recovered, one Dickson Mutova, was available and willing to testify.
Recovered value of the vehicles has been put at US$ 17 000.
