The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested three suspects linked to the murder of police officer Sergeant Abel Masava and a series of armed robberies across Bulawayo.

The arrests were made following a comprehensive investigation initiated after the tragic incident that occurred on March 28, 2025.

The suspects identified as Mandlenkosi Albert Munangati (26), Clifford Desmond Nare (33), and Thabo Dube aged 24 years.

The ZRP confirms that the firearm used in the murder of Sergeant Masava has been recovered.
“The firearm used to kill the police officer has been recovered from the robbers.”
The investigation intensified when police traced a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number AGG 8380, which was allegedly involved in the murder and multiple robbery cases between April 22, 2024, and March 28, 2025.

Following leads, detectives apprehended Munangati, who subsequently implicated Nare and Dube in the crimes.

The police have also recovered five firearms, including a National Browning pistol, a Blow F92 blank pellet gun, a long rifle, a Vizor pistol, a shotgun, and a sword linked to the suspects.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police vows to end robbery syndicates throughout the nation.

“The Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against robbery syndicates in the country. The law will take its course without fear or favour.”said Police Spokeperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
