Triangle United are back with the big boys of Zimbabwean football after delivering a professional performance, holding their nerve to dispatch Rusitu Tigers by a goal to nil at Gibbo Stadium.
Wild celebrations greeted the final whistle as fans mobbed their heroes who worked hard in a tough league to bring back premiership football to the Lowveld.
Triangle United scored early in the first half courtesy of former Dulibadzimu United midfielder Munashe Bamara prodding home from close range.
The Sugar boys as Triangle are affectionately known, had to do it the hard way, in the process showing a fighting spirit and hard work which saw them wiping a 16 point deficit at match day 19 to pip title rivals FC Wangu Mazodze on goal difference, clinching the sole ticket to the premiership.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network after the match, Triangle United captain Thabani Kamusoko highlighted that their game was mostly focused on results rather displaying stylish football.
“We are happy as players we are going to the PSL, this is what we wanted, it was all about results, and we managed to get the results,” said Kamusoko.
Triangle United‘s assistant coach Stanley Stano Ncube also expressed his joy and appreciating the hard work of the team after its successful campaign marked by their PSL return.
“Eventually, I just want to say hard work pays and always believe in that”Stano said.
Triangle United come into existence in 1972 and the club debuted its PSL in 2012 after winning Eastern Region Soccer league becoming the first team in 42years from the Lowveld to be promoted to the PSL.
