Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the self proclaimed Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has withdrawn his Supreme Court appeal against a High Court ruling that prevented him from altering the party’s parliamentary leadership.
The Welshman led CCC faction national spokesperson Willias Madzimure confirmed the developments in a press statement released yesterday.
Tshabangu and Nonhlanhla Mlotshwa, whom he had appointed as the party’s chief whip, submitted their notice of withdrawal before an urgent High Court hearing held yesterday.
The hearing was initiated by Ncube to seek permission to enforce Justice Neville Wamambo’s judgment, which barred Tshabangu from making any changes to the parliamentary committees until his appeal was resolved.
With this withdrawal, all changes made by Tshabangu, including the removal of Lynette Karenyi and Edwin Mushoriwa from the Standing Rules and Orders (SROC) Parliamentary Committee and Mlotshwa’s appointment as Chief Whip, are now null and void.
The CCC will enforce Justice Wamambo’s ruling, reinstating the previous parliamentary leadership structure.
