The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has announced that it will hold a picketing event at the University of Zimbabwe on April 24 and April 25, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM each day.
This decision follows the granting of a court order in the case between the AUT and the Commissioner General of the Police, case number HCH1844/25.
In a letter addressed to the Commissioner General, the AUT outlined the details of the planned picketing and emphasized the need for police support and protection during the event.
The AUT aims to ensure a peaceful demonstration while advocating for the interests of university staff and addressing ongoing concerns within the education sector.
Members of the public and media are encouraged to respect the picketing process, which is intended to be conducted in an orderly manner. Further updates regarding the event are expected as the date approaches.
