WELLTON College delivered strong performances across all sporting codes at the Petra College Junior Winter Festival held last Saturday with the school excelling in netball, soccer, hockey and rugby against some of Zimbabwe’s leading junior schools.
The festival, hosted by Petra College Junior School and sponsored by Fine & Country, featured 12 schools including Gateway School, Heritage School, Nattie Group of Schools and Morning Star.

Wellton’s Fillies Netball team were the standout performers after winning all four of their matches, including victories over Morning Star, Goldridge, Camel and Whitestone.
The Colts Soccer side remained unbeaten after beating Whitestone 1-0 and Centenary 2-0, while drawing 0-0 against Camel.
In hockey, Wellton recorded wins over Camel and Centenary, two draws and one narrow defeat to Whitestone in a competitive campaign.
The rugby team also impressed with wins against Nattie Group of Schools and Petra, before drawing against Goldridge and Whitestone.
Speaking to Ziyah News Netork, Wellton coach Salvado Malunga praised the teams for their determination and teamwork, describing the festival as a successful and exciting weekend of sport.
Attention now shifts to upcoming fixtures, including the Wellton College soccer tour to CBC Bulawayo and the Hillcrest Prep Winter Festival in Mutare.
