THE journey to cup glory continues as the Dream Inn GMI Super 8 prepares for the two semi-final matches over the weekend.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday, 11 October 2026.

West Nicholson and Super Strikers FC will battle each other at Phelandaba Stadium, while Grain Tigers will lock horns with Tongogara at Mbizo Stadium.

The four teams are entering these fixtures after impressive performances in their quarterfinal campaigns.

Nicholson edged out fellow Gwanda side Gwanda Pirates 11-10 in a historic penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Super Strikers defeated Kwekwe United 2-0 to secure their semi-final date with Nicholson.

Grain Tigers booked their place in the Dream Inn GMI Super 8 semi-finals after handing Blanket Mine their first defeat of the season in all competitions.

Tigers triumphed over Blanket Mine 12-11 on penalties after a tightly contested 1-1 draw in regulation time away from home, while Tongogara secured a 2-1 victory over fellow soldiers Chapungu to earn their spot in the semi-finals.

These results added another impressive chapter to the tournament, given that penalty shootouts are generally considered a lottery.

Ahead of the match, Nicholson coach Ofhani Muleya said that Sunday’s encounter will be a different ball game.

He also said that his team is prepared despite the challenging weather conditions disrupting their preparations.

“We have played many competitive games, which has brought some fatigue, but in terms of depth, we are prepared to give it our all in this fixture. While we have been unfortunate with rain disruptions, we are ready to play,” Muleya said.

He also acknowledged that his squad is capable of competing, despite the absence komof key player Tinashe Nyamukoko due to an injury sustained in the league fixture against Dulibadzimu United.
