A moment of anticipation turned into a horrific scene of violence early Thursday morning when a pregnant woman, preparing to go to the hospital to give birth, witnessed her husband brutally stabbed to death in the Joe Slovo informal settlement, Cape Town.

Talent, whose surname has not been disclosed, was assisting his partner, Lillian Gono, as they awaited an Uber to take her to Dunoon Hospital.

As the couple waited for the ride to arrive, tragedy struck.

According to a post shared by Toni Tresadern on Facebook, Talent stepped outside to place their hospital bag in the car when a group of approximately eight men launched a savage attack.

Tresadern recounted that Talent was beaten before being repeatedly stabbed in the head, stomach, and chest. The assailants then fled the scene with his phone and the family’s hospital bag.

Moments later, Lillian, in a desperate attempt to find her husband, struggled down the stairs, only to discover him lying in a pool of blood.

It was there that she gave birth to a baby girl, naming her after her deceased father. Tragically, Talent is believed to have passed away just seconds after the newborn’s arrival.

In the wake of this devastating loss, a BackaBuddy campaign has been launched to help raise funds for Lillian to return home and to facilitate the burial of her husband.
