A 30 year old woman has been jailed for three years after her conviction by the Beitbridge Magistrate Court for drug trafficking in contravention of a section of Dangerous Drug Act .
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) , Leanah Chaka was arrested on September 19 at around 0030hours at the Bubi Road block along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
Upon inspection, police discovered 17 cobs of dagga (marijuana) hidden inside the potato pockets.
The contraband was weighed totaling 9.3 kilograms and the pockets were street valued at a value of $930.
“This conviction underscores the zero tolerance stance against drug trafficking in Zimbabwe,” NPAZ said .
