A 45-year-old woman from Hwange has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for physically abusing her 56-year-old husband amid a food dispute. The sentence was handed down by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court, with six months suspended for five years, and the remaining six months subject to her performing 210 hours of community service.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the altercation arose from a misunderstanding over food preparation.

During the incident, the accused stabbed her husband once in the left elbow with a kitchen knife and struck him in the mouth with a dinner plate. She also assaulted him multiple times across his body using enamel cups.

As a result of the attack, the husband suffered a swollen right upper lip and a deep cut on his left elbow. The case highlights the serious consequences of domestic disputes and the need for conflict resolution.

In light of this incident, the NPAZ has urged the public to seek peaceful methods of resolving conflicts, emphasizing that violence is never an acceptable solution.
