Zimbabwe Football Association has suspended match official Owen Manenda for 6 weeks following the review of his officiating in the Harare derby between Dynamos and Caps United.
ZIFA highlighted that Manenda ‘s critical officiating errors significantly affected the game ‘s outcome, resulting in a 6 weeks suspension.
“After careful evaluation of the match played at Rufaro Stadium on May 18, 2025 between Dynamos and Caps United, it was established that a critical officiating errors influenced the outcome of the game.This conclusion was based on the match commissioner ‘s report, which highlighted a decision made by the official contravened the expected standards of performance in top flight football…,” ZIFA stated.
According to ZIFA,Manenda has been suspended in accordance with article 22 of the Refereeing Code of Conduct, in pursuit, of upholding integrity and accountability within the game.
Addressing the issue of standards refereeing in the top flight, ZIFA reiterated it’s commitment to fair play, transparency and the continuous improvement of match officiating standards across all levels of the game.
