Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualification hopes suffered another blow after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rwanda at Orlando Stadium in South Africa yesterday.

Coming off a similar 1-0 loss to Benin, the Warriors once again failed to regain their momentum, recording back-to-back defeats that have effectively ended their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The result leaves Zimbabwe anchored at the bottom of Group C with just 4 points from 8 matches, extinguishing any realistic chance of progressing further in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Bafana Bafana remain firmly in control of Group C after a 1-1 draw against Nigeria’s Super Eagles. The draw pushed Bafana Bafana’s tally to 17 points from 8 matches, keeping them at the top of the group.

Nigeria’s single point from the encounter lifted them to second place on 11 points, the same as Benin and Rwanda, who occupy third and fourth respectively.
