Zimbabwe ‘s Warriors failed to secure maximum points in their opening match of the 2025 COSAFA CUP after being frustrated to a 0-0 draw by Mauritius at Free State Stadium in South Africa.
The two sides went Into the halftime break with nothing separating them, but with Zimbabwe having been the better team in the first 45 minutes. The Warriors’ dominance however failed to yield anything as they went into the breather with only Thando Ngwenya ‘s disallowed goal for offside to show for it.
The underdogs, Mauritius tried to break the dead lock in the 74th minute, however the goal was ruled out by the VAR following a hand ball in the build up.
Elsewhere, hosts South Africa had a false start following a narrow 1-0 defeat against Mozambique ‘s Mambas yesterday.
South Africa and Zimbabwe will look to redeem themselves and secure maximum points in their next fixtures as they play each other in two days time.
