ZIMBORDERS has increased its tariffs for commercial vehicles stating the upward adjustment has been triggered by the nationwide value added tax (VAT) adjustment.

The company which runs the upgraded Beitbridge border post after renewing it for $300 million including out of port installations said the adjustment will not affect private cars and motorcycles.

“We wish to inform you of upcoming adjustments to our toll fees. Please note that the increase reflected in January 2026 is a result of the VAT rate adjustment implemented nationwide,” Zimborders said in a statement.

“The tariffs effective from 1 February 2026 reflect Zimborders’ own annual price adjustments. In recognition of our valued relationship, we are pleased to confirm that there will once again be no increase for non-commercial vehicles, including motorcycles and light vehicles.”

The statement said Zimborders will continue to absorb the costs of non commercial vehicles to cushion those classes of motorists.

“To keep overall adjustments minimal, increases from February have been limited solely to other commercial vehicle categories,” said the statement.

Zimborders said a modest increase will apply to
Minibuses, light goods vehicles, coaches, heavy vehicles, goods vehicles, abnormal vehicles, and parking bays.
Details regarding the specific toll fee adjustments are available on our website at www.zimborders.com.

Zimborders modernised and automated the Beitbridge border post on an arrangement that will see them run it for 17 years during which time they are expected to recoup their injected capital and collect profits.

While their improved border has been hailed as a milestone motoring users of the facility complain of too many queues at Zimborders, Immigration, Zinara, Customs and Excise for declarations and road access, police for vehicle clearances.

“Those are six queues and that defeats the whole purpose of automation of the border. Foreign registered vehicle queue for temporary import permits, insurances and road access payments.
