THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has set October 10 as the deadline for all VAT-registered businesses under Categories A and C to submit their VAT returns and meet full tax obligations for the tax period ending September 30, in line with Statutory Instrument 150 of 2025.
According to a public notice dated October 3, ZIMRA said failure to comply with the deadline will result in penalties and/or prosecution.
“All taxpayers must submit their returns and make payments in full on or before the due dates. Failure to comply will result in penalties and/or prosecution,” ZIMRA said.
Businesses are required to submit their returns online via the Tax and Revenue Management System (TaRMS) through the Self-Service Portal (SSP).
ZIMRA said that businesses should attach their valid input tax invoices and Withholding Tax Certificate Schedules to support claims when submitting returns.
“Registered operators are advised not to claim input tax on invoices other than fiscal tax invoices. Invoices issued manually or through unauthorised systems are not acceptable,” Zimra said in the notice.
Payments can be made at ZIMRA banks or online platforms.
ZIMRA also said taxpayers must clearly indicate their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and name when processing transactions to ensure accurate allocation.
ZIMRA further said outstanding returns may result in taxes being estimated without notice and attract penalties or interest.
To facilitate compliance,self-service kiosks are available at major ZIMRA offices to assist taxpayers in filing their returns.
