This is my opinion, as Rex Mphisa, outgoing Vice Chairman, Dulibadzimu United FC.
Is there a new dawn at Dulibadzimu United, Beitbridge town’s community team?
Or is the sun setting?
Is the team going down the same hurting path that swallowed Underhill, Tripple B, Border Strikers, Limpopo Young Tigers, Beitbridge FC, just to name a few?
His I will never buy, Dulivhadzimu United must never die.
The numerous social soccer clubs, the numerous businesses and the good population of the border town in general cannot let this happen.
There is more to gain in its survival.
Saturday will tell as the border town is still waking up from the dream that the World Cup is over and USA has finally known soccer is business.
What will Beitbridge learn from that?
Who said politicians do not take part in soccer?
Donald Trump negotiated for the removal of a red card as he played a central role for the USA team!
Trump, the serving as U.S. President, indeed intervened on behalf of U.S. striker Folarin Balogun after Balogun received a red card in a round-of-32 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Arguing the tackle was simply two great athletes getting tangled up and calling the referee’s decision unfair,
He personally contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino to request a review. Following this, FIFA suspended the one-match ban, allowing Balogun to play in the team’s subsequent match against Belgium.
And who knew that Messi can play for 90 minutes without a shot at goal?
Yes, its possible with the beautiful game and I was, just like the estimated 1.5 to 2 billion people worldwide watched the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina how many people worldwide who watched the final between Spain and Argentina, saw that happen.
For the entire 120 minutes played, Argentina and Messi never shot at goal!
And in Beitbridge, the dream of Dulibadzimu United wakes up on Saturday as the community team goes on a belated elective congress!
Swords have been drawn against myself, the die is cast and the elections are expected to be explosive.
The team is divided, with some executives wanting to hold on by putting their proxies while others, like myself, believe new people should be in charge following our dismal and pathetic show over the years.
We have lied, cheated and even denied our own players like Ephanny Gwavava who has now been smiled upon by the Gods of soccer to sign for Highlanders.
Were we, as an executive, fair to Ephanny “Manyama”? Yes we were!
As outgoing vice chairman I have already conceded the dream is not sustainable with the current executive.
We cannot repay the faithful fans, we have harassed reporters whose job is to tell our story to the outside world.
We have in our supporters executives people we all know removed any supporter from our groups just for disagreeing wth an idea. Thats sad!
We had a senior lawyer and citizen Jabulani Mzinyathi insulted by a junior executive of the supporters, what a shame!
No good executive hates criticism, constructive criticism.
Personally as Rex Mphisa, I was fired by my SG Mandla Moyo, soon after I had secured sponsorship. I left.
The community brought me back. I worked.
I knocked every door, bored people with my messages about the team.
I got a lot of support from all of you, thank you everyone!
I remember we had no money to go to Gokwe, I approached Zimborders and they paid R12 000 needed for that trip in six hours. Our Treasurer General then, Loadwell Ziyadumah, (who left because of our confusion but continues o help us financially even in the face of insults), called to say there was cash from Zimborders and we were all happy ever after.
We had regular money from Rumson Transport, Summit Guest Lodge, a lot of Ward Two residents, Goto once gave us 45 litres, the list is endless, and all this money I got for the team was trough trust.
We as an executive failed to reward he faith.
We must walk away en-masse. Leave a few dedicated minds.
I have my proposal mixing businessmen, youthful lawyers, sports administrators and traditional leaders Chiefs Tshitaudze and Matibe as custodians of the dream.
This “dream team” has already got tongues wagging.
Among the proposed new leadership Jabulani Ndou, Chris Lunga and Innocent Ramatswana have been named as chairman prospects.
Ramatswana is a former Dulibadzimu United Secretary-General, while Jabulani Ndou is a former chairman of Premier Soccer League side Border Strikers.
Both are experienced.
The three have adequate knowhow, a support base to drive the dream as Dulis tries to overturn its fortunes.
A Beitbridge Municipality employee Sethoboli, a disciplinarian and Nqaba, a deputy secretary for the current executive, are expected to run for deputy chairmanship.
Pithey Magumula, a young lawyer, and Big Clemence Mabhidi, a soccer enthusiast and well-connected football administrator, are also among the notable names on the list.
Magumula, who never misses local football matches, has been proposed as Vice Secretary to veteran administrator Rodlet Chigwinya.
Magumula even said he is looking forward to living the dream.
Big Mabhidi has been proposed as Welfare Manager. He is a well travelled soccer manager whose connections run across the African soccer region is massive.
Mabhidi and Magumula are two prospective candidates whom I believe are fit to be part of the new leadership of Beitbridge outfit Dulibadzimu United.
Young lawyer Jabulani Mzinyathi, JB Jnr, is expected to join the mix. He is a former player at Stubbs FC and is expected to bring in professionalism and read the law.
My proposed team of Board of Trustees includes the following popular names Ngwenya known as Croc, Hosea Muleya, Roy Muleya, Tsepang Nyathi, Stubbs, Milidi, Oscar Chiromo, Chivige, Mcilo Construction, Xintai, Blue Villa, Pastor Muleya, Nyaradzo, Doves, Southern Aqua, Elias Chibi, MB Buses, Bridgestone, RegStep, Speedlink, Freight Solutions, Zimborders, Zimra, and Potato.
In response to the proposed list, some members feel the team is too chaotic for elders of this calibre to feature and take part.
Other supporters agree with the proposed list and see it as an important step towards bringing back the much loved soccer to the community.
Community teams need stability to show that the community has their back, from leadership down to the welfare of players.
Saturday, at Skeem Beit, the bells will toll. Election time has been set for 5pm.
Whatever happens at the AGM, let soccer and the community win.
