The Zimbabwe Republic Police has continued it’s fight against drug and substance abuse in the country ratcheting up pressure on drug moles and manufacturers of illicit substances.
The latest bust in its ongoing efforts has seen the ZRP arresting seven directors of Samina Liquar Company for allegedly manufacturing and distributing illicit brews at their premises in Harare’s Arlington industrial area.
The arrests, are part of the government’s zero tolearnce to the production of unregulated and harmful alcoholic substances.Having declared drug and substance abuse as a national challenge that needs all hand on the deck, the action is being seen on the ground as barely a day goes by without drug related arrests being effected by the police.
The said company is said to have had 25 employees on site at the time of the police range d and all of them were also taken into custody.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the company was operating without being properly registered and was manufacturing illicit brews which are being offered to Zimbabweans.
Commissioner Nyathi also revealed that the ZRP is now working with other relevant authorities to establish how the firm was operating.
Recently, the government gazetted Statutory Instrument 62 of 2025, banning the production of illicit alcoholic brews, including those known as “musombodhiya” or “kambwa.”
