A Beitbridge man is lucky to be alive after armed robbers hit him with a hammer on his head and stripped him of R1 500.
Regis Tamsanqa Siwela was overjoyed after recovering his phones stolen from where he was charging them when at 4:30am robbers struck in the New Medium.
“They spoke in Ndebele and two of them entered demanding money. They hit me with a hammer and took my money,” Siwela said.
He screamed and the robbers who had a car outside fled but e noticed a short one on his assailants.
“That one was short and I can recognise him any day,” Siwela said.
He was treaed for his wounds at Beitridge hospital but was advised to report for a scan on his head.
Meanwhile there are reports on social media about the arrest of some youth with an assortment of weapons including hammers.
An image of the youths show a short young man now suspected ro be the one who attacked Siwela.
Efforts to get comment from Poli ein Beitbridge were fruitless with calls to Chief Superintendent Mesuli Ncube going unanswered.
