FORMER Beitbridge regional magistrate Innocent Bepura has sent a chilling warning to criminals after jailing a Zaka cop killer for 62 years for armed robbery.
Daniel Munyanyi (50) is yet to go on trial for the murder of two policemen.
He was convicted of six counts of armed robbery and sentenced to 72 years in jail.
Bepura suspended 10 years, and Munyanyi will spend an effective 62 years behind bars.
Munyanyi allegedly shot and killed two detectives from Harare CID homicide when they cornered him at his rural home in Chimedza, Zaka.
The police were investigating his armed robbery cases.
Munyanyi was arrested by the public in Nyika, Bikita afer he fled the scene of murder and went into hiding.
His armed robbery cases date back to June 20, 2025, when he raided Chief Nhema’s homestead, tied him with shoelaces and got away with US$10 000, five wrist watches, jewellery and shoes.
On December 8 last year when he attacked Tawanda Mandava’s shop at Chinyudze Business Centre in Zaka and robbed him of US$4 500, $US400 worth of airtime, a 9mm Star pistol, a Toyota Porte vehicle and groceries.
He on December, 20 last year attacked Brighton Mwabvu’s house at Jerera Growth Point and got away with $US781 and a Toyota Mark X.
The next day, armed with a pistol, Munyanyi who loed opsrating near home hit at Mandadzaka Business Centre in Bikita and robbed Austin Fungai of US$300 and groceries.
He shifted to Gutu Mpandawana Town January 6 this year and robbed Emmanuel Mbanda of his Mazda vehicle and an iPhone at gunpoint.
