A movie style money heist unfolded in daylight as robbers pounced on an Mukuru branch at Makomva Shopping Centre in Glen View yesterday.

Armed with fire arms and unregistered black vehicle , the robbers fired warning shots prompting shoppers to scurry for cover fearing for their lives.

The incident was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and  investigations in the case are underway.

“The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding a case of armed robbery which occurred at a money transfer shop at Glenview 2 Shopping Centre, Harare,“ said the Police Spokesperson Commissioner Nyathi.

Commissioner Nyathi also said the four armed robbers raided the money agency outlet in the morning at around 09:39 hours and and got away with  US$ 2 789.00 and ZAR 2 350.00 cash and drove off in their get -away car.

The unknown robbers were “armed with pistols and were travelling in a black Toyota Mark X that they parked in front of the premises before producing the firearms. They proceeded to pounce at the shop and fired two shots in the air before demanding cash from the teller and a client.”

The Police is urging anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

Incidences of armed robberies and money heist have been on the ride in the country with many of the gangs involving firmer security personnel
