National Gallery of Zimbabwe Executive Director Raphael Chikukwa has urged people to take art serious as it create world a better place.
He made the remarks during an art symposium held at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on Thursday.
Mr Chikukwa gave example of conflicts and wars around the world such as in Gaza, Ukraine and Democratic Republic of Congo as he tried to express how the world is and art can bring people together, improve people’s way of life making world a better place.
”I am happy that we are all gathered here because we have got a common language that is art, a lot of things are happening around the world but if we prioritise art we create a peaceful world,” he said.
He thanked the sponsors for making event a success.
Partner for Zavare, Nyekete and Tazvitya art centres Christian Balslev Olesen, who was the guest of honour thanked National Gallery of Zimbabwe for having one of the best art institution in the region and its contribution in transforming many people in the art industry.
“Zimbabwe has been a home of international artists because of its Ubuntu so should always use art to spread oneness amongst ourselves, ” said Balslev Olesen.
Thomas Petit who was also showing his artistic work entitled “free of entity” said he was happy to in Zimbabwe from France.
Lorraine Usayi Mamvura show-cased her art work “pride of African women” which clearly shows the burden of women as they are crucial in raising the children.
The colourful occasion was attended by various people in the art industry and some foreign guests.
