THE Beitbridge Rural District Council (BRDC), in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, has launched a Citizen Score Card Survey aimed at giving residents and stakeholders an opportunity to evaluate the quality of public services offered across the district.

The initiative seeks to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery by encouraging citizens to provide honest feedback on council performance.

Through the survey, residents can rate the services they receive and submit suggestions on areas requiring improvement.

According to the council’s public notice, the exercise forms part of broader efforts to promote citizen participation in local governance and ensure that development priorities are informed by the needs and experiences of communities.

The council is offering three convenient platforms for participation.

“Residents can send a “Hi” via WhatsApp to +263 787 605 060, email their feedback to ceo@bbrdc.co.zw, or submit comments through the Beitbridge Rural District Council Facebook page,” read the notice

BRDC has assured participants that all responses will remain confidential and anonymous.

Council officials say public participation is essential in improving service delivery, noting that citizen feedback will help identify service gaps and guide future planning and resource allocation.

The campaign is being promoted under the slogan “Your Voice Drives Change”, highlighting the importance of community involvement in shaping better local governance.

The Citizen Score Card is a globally recognised social accountability tool used by governments and local authorities to assess public satisfaction with service delivery.

In Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works has been encouraging local authorities to adopt citizen engagement mechanisms that enhance transparency, accountability and responsiveness.

Council officials have urged all residents, businesses, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to participate, emphasizing that better services can only be achieved through active public engagement.

“Better Services Start With You. Let’s Build a Better Beitbridge Together,” the council says in its campaign message.
