Beitbridge – Beitbridge is proudly set to host the 2025 Mat South Junior Championships, formerly known as the Youth Games, from August 14 to 17, bringing together rising stars from across seven districts in a vibrant celebration of youth sport and regional unity.
In a statement issued by District Sports Officer Mangore Loveness, preparations are in full swing for what promises to be a memorable event that fosters both sporting excellence and community spirit.
“We are proud to host this important event that brings together young talent from across the region,” said Loveness.
“It’s a chance for us to promote youth development, identify emerging talent, and strengthen inter-district relations.”
A Multidiscipline Sporting Showcase
The Junior Championships will feature five key sporting disciplines:
Soccer – Boys & Girls
Netball – Girls
Volleyball – Boys & Girls
Handball – Boys & Girls
Athletics – Boys & Girls
Competitions will unfold across several established local venues:
Roonies Arena – Boys Soccer & Netball
Dulibadzimu Stadium & Prison Grounds – Girls Soccer
Vhembe High School – Athletics
St Joseph’s Secondary School – Handball
St Mary’s High School – Volleyball (Boys)
Beitbridge Government Primary School – Volleyball (Girls)
While no new infrastructure upgrades are planned, Loveness confirmed that the district is making optimal use of its existing facilities to ensure a smooth and successful event.
