Zimbabwe’s Rugby national team, the Sables will vie for the 2025 Rugby Africa title against rival Namibia over the weekend , where a victory will not only secure continental bragging rights but also a ticket to the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
A 29 – 23 victory against Kenya in the semi final tell a story of its own but it was far from a perfect performance, and now the Sables will look to bring their full asernal including best players to face Namibia in the final to defend the title.
Zimbabwe Rugby Union has rallied behind the Sables in their bid for the African glory, with assurance that the team is prepared to take on Namibia.
“Spirits are high in camp as the Sables prepare for the final against Namibia in the Rugby Africa Cup final,” Zimbabwe Rugby Union stated.
Following their 2024, 32-10 victory against Namibia, the Sables might have a psychological edge but Namibia is seeking redemption, as they also aim to have the double delight through a single win, securing the African title and the World Cup dream.
Given that Zimbabwe hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 1991, that could be a pushing factor for the team, that on its own is enough motivation to defend their African crown in style.
