THE Beitbridge Town Council on the Christmas eve successfully distributed 33 food hampers to children living with disabilities.
This ensured some of the town’s most vulnerable residents enjoy a festive holiday season.
The handover ceremony was at the Methodist Church in Beitbridge.
The hampers were funded entirely by proceeds from the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund Fundraising Dinner, held on December 19, 2025.

Beitbridge Town Council Public Relations Officer Raniel Ndou said the initiative was designed to provide more than just nutrition.
“Each hamper contained a selection of nutritious staples, as well as festive treats,” Ndou told Ziyah News Network.
“The aim was to give the children and their families a warm, plentiful holiday meal and a reminder that they are not alone,” he said
The council expressed deep gratitude to the local business community and private citizens who supported the gala dinner.
Ndou highlighted that the success of the event was a testament to the town’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“To our corporate partners and individual donors, your commitment and personal sacrifice turned a simple idea into a tangible blessing for those who need it most,” Ndou added.
The Town Council believes this year’s success is only the beginning.
The overwhelming response from the public has inspired the local authority to expand its support for vulnerable groups in the coming year.
“The success of this year’s Cheer Fund inspires us to continue supporting disabled children and other vulnerable groups throughout 2026,” Ndou said.
“Together, we are creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all our children.”
For the beneficiaries, the gesture arrived at the perfect moment.
Patricia Ndou, a mother of one of the children who received a hamper, spoke to Ziyah News Network about the impact of the donation.
“These hampers come at exactly the right time for Christmas. I applaud the Mayor and the Council for remembering us; this is a very innovative way to support families in need,” she said.

The event was distinguished by the attendance of several key municipal leaders, including His Worship the Mayor, Peter Pirato Mafuta, the Town Clerk, Loud Ramakgapola and Councilors.
Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the local government’s commitment to community development.
