Beitbridge Prison is set to host the 2025 edition of the Commissioner General’s Goodwill Trust Fund Sports Gala on November 29,2025.
The event is organised by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS).
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Officer Commanding Sports, Tapera Mhazo, said the fundraising event will feature at least 20 soccer teams, six netball teams, and a pool competition.
He noted that elimination games are expected to begin next week, with only the finals scheduled to take place on the day of the gala.
Mhazo also called on the business community to contribute to the fundraising initiative.
“Other donations in kind shall be channeled towards the upkeep of the said underprivileged children. For example, we have a student enrolled at one of the local schools whose fees are being paid by the ZPCS through the funding,” he said.
“Your support in this regard is greatly appreciated by the ZPCS family and shall forever be cherished by main beneficiaries (orphans) and vulnerable members in the community,” he said
The annual sports gala seeks to raise funds for the welfare of underprivileged children, while also promoting sports and camaraderie within the correctional service community.
