Beitbridge – A group of bright and passionate young students from Beitbridge is set to represent Zimbabwe at the prestigious SADC Primary Schools Debate and Public Speaking Championships, scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 8 to 11, 2025.

The learners, selected during the recently held Beitbridge Debate Open, have been recognized for their exceptional public speaking and critical thinking skills.

The initiative is being led by That Voice Speech Academy Africa, a local organization committed to nurturing the next generation of articulate and confident leaders. The academy’s Founding Director, Rebecca Muleya, has issued a heartfelt appeal to the Beitbridge business community and well-wishers for financial or in-kind support to help the team make the trip.

“The opportunity for these learners to represent our town and country on a regional stage is both an honor and a responsibility,” Muleya said.

“We’ve already covered part of the costs through proceeds from our local tournament, but we still need help to bridge the remaining gap.”

According to Muleya, the total cost per student stands at $200, and with 20 students selected, the team requires additional assistance to meet expenses related to travel, accommodation, and logistics.

The call for support emphasizes that any contribution big or small will make a significant impact. Muleya stressed that beyond finances, this initiative is about promoting youth empowerment, educational growth, and national pride.

Individuals or organizations interested in supporting the students can contact That Voice Speech Academy Africa via email at thatvoiceafrica@gmail.com, on WhatsApp at +263 782 657 761, or by arranging a physical meeting at 3865 Dulivhadzimu, Beitbridge.

“This is not just about debate; it’s about giving these young voices the platform they deserve,” Muleya added. “Together, we can uplift the future of our nation.”
