Beitbridge fans were left shocked and gutted yesterday, 14 August 2025, following Bishopstone FC’s immediate withdrawal from the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
The league confirmed the Beitbridge outfit’s exit in an official statement.
“The Association would like to inform your esteemed offices and person that Bishopstone FC has officially withdrawn from the league with immediate effect. We appreciate Bishopstone FC’s participation and contributions to the league,” the Central Region Soccer League statement read.
The Orange Boys’ coach, Prince Bandula Muleya, expressed deep disappointment over the mid-season exit.
“It’s bitterly disappointing because this situation kills our boys’ careers. We really love football and, honestly, it’s difficult for us and the players. But there was nothing we could do we lost our sponsor, which made it impossible for the team to continue playing. At some point, we tried to address the situation, but it was too late. If it had happened during the break, it would have been better for the boys to secure greener pastures,” Bandula said.
Bishopstone’s shock exit comes just two days before their scheduled clash against log leaders Sheasham FC, the Construction Boys.
