A 62-year-old Beitbridge woman’s fighting skills helped her secure justice after her rapist Forget Ndlovu half her age at 31 was sold out by a middle finger she bit during her unsuccessful fight to ward him off.

Ndlovu is now serving an 18 year jail term after her conviction by Regional magistrate Charity Maphosa sitting at Beitbridge.

Although the woman who name will be spared for her dignity was eventually raped, her efforts paid off and her assailant brought to book.

The woman was sleeping in her home in Beitbridge West when Ndlovu pounced.

On September 6, 2025 at around 1900 hours the woman went to bed with her her four-year-old grandchild.

For the heat, all windows were open.

At around 11pm the woman was awakened by Ndlovu who jumped in through the window.

He had already positioned himself above her and her scream for help went unheard.

Ndlovu then threatened her demanding silence at the same time demanding she undresses herself or face further harm.

Beaten, she complied, but not before having put up a fight during which she bit his middle finger.

He then raped her without using any protection from around that time until about 2am the following when he got tired and slept.

Noticing he had fallen into a deep slumber, the woman woke up and tried sneaking out but she disturbed him and he came to and wrestled so that she does not lock him inside, which was her grand plan.

She managed after a struggle but he went out the way he came and fled.

The woman related her ordeal to a neighbour a search patty tracking Ndlovu’s feet soon found him in Tshanyaugwe Village where his bitten Finger sold him out.

Maphosa suspended three years for five years on condition of good behaviour.

Effectively Ndlovu will be inside for 15 Years.
