DANIEL Chamisa, aka Madzibaba Weslodge, was on Monday further remanded in custody to January 12, 2026 in his alleged murder case.
Appearing from remand prison, Chamisa, accused of murdering his disciple Ashton Manga, appeared settled but made every effort to escape public eyes.
He positioned himself on the far side of the remand prisoners maintaining a face looking down.
He is now understood to have been assisted by a former relation to secure the services of Omen Mafa, a Masvingo lawyer.
Mafa has since approached the High Court for bail and a hearing is scheduled for Tuesday December 30.
The self-styled man of the cloth invited Manga to his place of worship for prayers from where the now deceased never returned.
His remains were found in a kneeling position suggesting he died in prayer.
A large stone, believed the murder weapon was found still lodged on his shoulders, suggesting a close range attack.
Relatives of the deceased camped at the court Monday in the absence of proper explanation from officials on circumstances surrounding routine remands.
It is also clear the relatives have not been educated on murder cases and where they are heard.
While magistrates courts handle remand hearings for murder, such cases are tried in the High Court, even on a plea case, which is never automatic.
All people accused of the capital crime of murder can have their statements confirmed at the Magistrates who have no jurisdiction over murder.
