ZIMBABWE men’s senior cricket team has safely returned home from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India, albeit in batches, after travel disruptions from the Middle East War forced a change in their original flight plans.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed the squad arrived back in the country on Friday, March 6.
“Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team, which participated in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 arrived home on Friday, March 6, from India after the International Cricket Council secured alternative travel arrangements following recent transit disruptions,” the board said.
The Chevrons’ return was staggered by flight availability and revised routing, with players leaving India on different days.
The first group of players departed India on Wednesday, March, 3 while the final group left on Friday afternoon.
The Chevrons enjoyed a memorable T20 World Cup campaign, recording notable wins over Australia and Sri Lanka to qualify for the Super Eights ,however, the Sikandar Raza led team failed to win any of their three fixtures in the next round and were eliminated from the tournament.
Despite the logistical complications, the full squad and support staff have now returned safely, bringing a close to Zimbabwe’s campaign at the global T20 Cricket World Cup.
