BUSINESSMAN Wicknell Chivayo has fulfilled his promise to gift Dynamos F.C. a brand-new 65-seater team bus and a US$50,000 cash incentive, despite the club’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to rivals CAPS United F.C. in the Harare Derby on 10 May 2026.

The much-anticipated clash at a packed Rufaro Stadium had initially carried added pressure after Chivayo announced that the luxury bus would only be delivered if Dynamos secured victory over their long-time rivals.

However, after the match, Chivayo chose to waive the condition, saying the team’s determination and fighting spirit were enough to deserve the reward.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the businessman said football should unite people rather than create hatred and division. While acknowledging the defeat, he praised the “Glamour Boys” for displaying “bravery and effort” on the field.

He stressed that he was not the kind of person who only honours commitments when circumstances are favourable, describing Dynamos as a “household name” deeply woven into Zimbabwe’s football history.

Chivayo also paid tribute to the club’s loyal supporters, saying the donation was a token of appreciation for the thousands of fans who packed the stadium and showed unwavering love and support for the team.

The businessman further revealed that the gesture carried personal significance, as many of his close friends and relatives are passionate Dynamos supporters.

The latest donation adds to a growing list of high-profile contributions Chivayo has made to Zimbabwean football in recent years.

Earlier this year, he donated a luxury 75-seater Higer bus worth US$285,000 and more than US$1 million in sponsorship support to Highlanders F.C., popularly known as Bosso. The package reportedly included funding for coach Benjani Mwaruwari’s salary and assistance in settling FIFA-related debts to help the club avoid transfer bans.

Together with businessman Scott Sakupwanya, Chivayo has also frequently rewarded the Zimbabwe national football team. Among the notable incentives were US$250,000 for qualifying for the 2025 AFCON tournament and another US$250,000 presented after the team’s early exit in Morocco as a gesture of appreciation.

Following their promotion and league success, Scottland FC also benefited from Chivayo’s generosity through a US$250,000 cash reward and a reported fleet of vehicles for players and officials.

Chivayo has additionally honoured several Zimbabwean football legends individually, including veteran coach Sunday Chidzambwa and former national team captain Peter Ndlovu, both of whom received luxury vehicles in recognition of their contributions to the sport.
