COSAFA has secured a fourth spot in the African Nations Championship ,scheduled to take place in Kenya ,Uganda and Tanzania in August ,thanks to South Africa and Malawi advancing to the Semifinals of the repechage qualification.
Following their 4-2 on aggregate victory against Egypt, South Africa sealed their place into the semifinal of the qualification. Malawi made light work of their fellow COSAFA side Comoros 4-0 on aggregate to book a date with another Southern African opponent.
The COSAFA pair, South Africa and Malawi will play against each other in May, with the winner to advance to the final to face either Algeria or Gambia and the finalist will automatically join the cohost Uganda, Niger and Guinea in Group C of the CHAN competition.
South Africa and Malawi will play their first leg between 2-4 May while the return leg fixtures is scheduled to place in May 10-11.
Angola, Zambia and Madagascar are the teams who have already sealed their places while one of South Africa and Malawi will join to become the fourth COSAFA side in the tournament.
