Daniel Msendami’s Marumo Gallants survived a scare, eventually going past Durban city 4-1 on penalties  in the Nedbank Cup quarter final yesterday.

The match ended tied  0-0 in regular time, before it was decided by a penalty shootout .Marumo Gallants bravely converted all four of their penalties with composure while South African’s National First Division side Durban City  missed three penalties.

Msendami managed to play 103 minutes before being substituted  during extra time.

Michael Nees, the Warriors coach will be pleased by Msendami having game time and playing crucial roles in his team’s victory.

Following their victory against Durban City, Marumo Gallants affectionately known as Bahlabane Ba Ntwa (Soldiers who stab during war) is set to battle against  defending champions Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank semi-final.

This will be a huge fixture for Marumo Gallants who will be looking forward to redeem themselves and reach the final while Orlando Pirates will be looking forward to defend the title for the third time in a row.

Marumo Gallants last qualified for the Nedbank Cup final in 2021/2022 season however they suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Brazilians, Mamelodi Sundowns. The team will be happy they are just 90 minutes away to book their place into the final.
