Delta Beverages has launched an investigation following an attempted breach at its Southerton brewery, where unknown individuals allegedly sought to access the facility through an existing stormwater drainage tunnel. This alarming incident led Delta Beverages to notify the police to assess the potential security threat.

The tunnel is believed to have been used in an attempt to steal beverages from within Delta’s premises. The discovery of the tunnel was made by Delta employees on Monday, February 17, 2025.

In an official statement, Delta Beverages provided details regarding the situation, confirming that it is investigating the illegal access attempt. The company assured that the incident did not disrupt their operations.

“Delta Beverages Private Limited, a leading manufacturer of lagers in Zimbabwe, is currently investigating an alleged attempt by unknown persons to illegally access premises at Southerton brewery through a pre-existing water storm drainage tunnel. The incident, which was discovered on 17 February 2025 by Delta Beverages employees, has not caused disruption to our operations,” the statement read.

Additionally, Delta Beverages stated they are working alongside police and relevant authorities to verify reports of potential threats to their operations. The company emphasized its dedication to the safety and security of its employees, facilities, and assets.

“We are working closely with the police and responsible authorities to determine the veracity of the report and the possible motive and identity of the perpetrators. We take the safety and security of our employees, facilities, and our assets very seriously. We are cooperating fully with all responsible authorities involved in the investigation and are conducting our standard incident management and review processes,” they added.

Delta Beverages is encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact either the police or the company directly.
