Saturday night is the night many will be told “the moon is shining.”

That appears like any other statement, well, but legends have it its a deep expression of affection, rudo, lufuno or uthando.

Just seven kilometres from the Beitbridge central business district , away under the stars in the comfort of the fresh easterly winds, the saying “the moon is so bright” is likely to be repeated across many tables.

The phrase “the moon is so bright tonight” can mean “I love you” in a romantic, indirect way, stemming from a Japanese story where writer Natsume Sōseki suggested it as a poetic alternative to a direct confession of love.

In this context, saying “the moon is beautiful” is a subtle, elegant way to share a moment and convey deep affection by likening the feeling to the serenity of the night sky.

The stage for that is set, courtesy of the Beitbridge Business Expo, Dinner Under the Stars is here.

“We have just a few tickets and tables left. People must not wait, the time to book is now,” an official of Beitbridge Business Expo Nqobile Ncube said.

This inaugural outdoor extravaganza is at the Ronnie’s Sports Arena, best known for sports, especially soccer.

Tomorrow night, there is no referee’s whistle, no cheering crowds spurning their team on but sweet melodies churned out by Band Fusion.

Instead of football boots hitting into each other in tackles, the clattering of forks and knives will fill the air.

During the event In partnership with the Municipality of Beitbridge the Beitbridge Business hopes to raise money to start a noble project of a showground building.

In a recent interview Beitbridge Business Expo Annah Muleya said the short term goal is to raise approximately US$50 000 to kick-start the building of the Show Ground.

Tickets for the black tie dinner are priced at US$90 per couple and US$50 for singles.

Muleya that this is not just a business project, but a community vision.
