Dulibadzimu United delivered a brilliant performance, securing maximum points with a 2-0 victory over Matobo FC at Dulibadzimu Stadium on Saturday.
Taking no part in the boardroom squabbles rocking the team, the community team sent Matobo packing giving exactly what the people ordered.
Following disappointing defeats to Kwekwe United and Shabane Mine FC, the Beitbridge outfit redeemed themselves in front of the Masikhodobo fans by beating Matobo FC, coached by their former coach Rutherford Matondo.
The match went to halftime at 0-0, with Matobo goalkeeper Tony Saunyama, a Dulis “prodical” son himself, making crucial saves as his former paymasters team knocked the doors with shot after shot.
Dulibadzimu United’s Brookyln Makawa opened the scoring in the 85th minute with a well-taken penalty, before sealing the win with a superb header from Bismark Muzenda’s corner-kick assist to make it 2-0.
Matobo had a chance to pull one back but Blessing Tembo, another Dulis last year player, missed from the penalty spot.
Dulibadzimu ‘s goalkeeper Tatenda Market earned his first start and went on to keep a clean sheet.
The 2-0 win saw Dulibadzimu United climb to 12 points after 12 matches.
Meanwhile, MSU secured maximum points with a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow Midlands side Shabanie Mine FC, while log leaders Chapungu cruised to a 3-0 win over Sabi Mine.
The Gwanda derby between ZRP Gwanda and West Nicholson ended 1-1 at Phelandaba Stadium, while debutants Shurugwi and Good Morning FC played out a 2-2 draw.
