President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabwe’s ambassadors to enhance the country’s global image and economy in a strategic push to bolster Zimbabwe’s international standing while addressing domestic challenges.

This call to action aligns with the nation’s Vision, guided by the mantra, “Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo / Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo.” He made these remarks at a meeting with Zimbabwe’s ambassadors held today at the State House.

During the meeting, he emphasized the need for ambassadors to actively counter negative narratives surrounding Zimbabwe and advocate against the illegal sanctions that continue to impact the nation.

“I also challenge you to correct wrong narratives about Zimbabwe by highlighting the existence and negative impacts of the illegal sanctions imposed on us by some Western countries,” Mnangagwa stated.

Promoting a sense of Pan-African solidarity, the President encouraged ambassadors to share the country’s achievements while fostering existing friendships and forming new economic partnerships.

“In the true spirit of Pan-Africanism and South-South cooperation, never shy away from sharing lessons and successes our country has achieved,” he added.

The President declared that current government initiatives under the Second Republic have led to transformative changes in trade relations, enhancing Zimbabwe’s socio-economic growth.

“The economic diplomacy being championed under my administration should continue to scale up trade and investment promotion,” he said, calling for an emphasis on tourism and industrial growth to support local production.

Mnangagwa also addressed the ongoing Arrears Clearance Process, asserting the government’s commitment to structured dialogue for debt restructuring. He highlighted the significance of the diaspora community in the nation’s foreign policy, urging ambassadors to engage with them consistently.

“You are required to engage them at every opportunity and facilitate their needs as we build our country together,” he concluded, emphasizing the importance of unity between Zimbabweans at home and abroad.

As the government moves forward with these initiatives, the effectiveness of ambassadors in connecting with global partners will be crucial in shaping the future of Zimbabwe’s international relations and economic landscape.
